Tranquil

More than 350 million people of all ages suffer from depression & over 1 million people die by suicide every year. WHO estimates that depression will be the 2nd highest medical cause of disability by the year 2030, 2nd only to HIV/AIDS. By the year 2020, depression will be the second largest killer after heart disease. 80% of people suffering from depression do not seek necessary treatment.

Tranquil is currently a research project that aims to help people suffering from stress, anxiety and depression using a mobile phone application. The application aims to detect the depression level using the cumulative results of emotion detection using Facial Action Coding System and Mathematical Modelling along with Standardized Diagnostic Questionaire. The app helps to connect patients with psychology experts at the comfort of their homes and integrates real-time virtual personal assistance to add physical touch to therapies. The best antidote to stress is joy and togetherness. The app, thus, allows the users to interact with the crowd by creating their profile and answering the questions if they know or refer to the answers that other users have posted thereby creating a channel for stressed out people to help others and in turn heal their own self. The app also opens up small yet worthy collection of inspirational quotes, images, audios and videos.
